First Responder Peer Support/Chaplain Trainings
Serving Heroes currently offers five levels of Peer Support/Chaplain Trainings. These courses are one day from 9:00am-3:00pm and are $99 per person or the group rate is $74.25 per person when you buy 4 or more tickets. These classes do not need to be taken in chronological order. If your church or department hosts a training, you can get free spots to attend the training.

Level 1
This training provides helpful tips, tools and techniques to peer support/chaplains or anyone who has a heart to support first responders. The main topics you will learn are:
• Role of Peer Support/Chaplains
• Introduction to Ministry to First Responders
• Suicide Prevention & Awareness
• Stress Management Techniques
• Introduction to CISM & PTSD
• Crisis Processing Applications
• Death Notifications
• Protector Orientation
• Coping Techniques for the First Responder

Level 2
This training provides more beneficial tips and techniques to those who wish to provide care and compassion to our first responders. You can register for this course even if you have not completed the Level 1 training. These courses offer totally different content that don’t necessarily build on each other. The main topics you will learn are:
• Treating & Managing PTSD
• First Responder Relationship Building Blocks
• Leading Practices for Debriefing after the Scene
• Communication Principles
• Supporting the First Responder’s Family
• Proper Steps to Dealing with Guilt
• Defusing Trauma Immediately after an Encounter
• Do’s & Don’ts of Emotional Response
• Compassion Fatigue Treatment
• Effective Techniques to Bring Healing from Suffering

Level 3
This training provides helpful tools to equip those who wish to give care and support to our first responders. You can register for this course even if you have not completed the Level 1 or 2 trainings. These courses offer different content that don’t necessarily build on each other. The main topics you will learn are:
• Secondary Trauma Treatment
• Psychological Fundamentals of Health for the First Responder
• Healthy Boundaries
• Tactical Intervention
• Breaking Addictions
• Defeating the Demons
• Emotional Iceberg
• Secondary Trauma Treatment – Part 2
• How to Heal from Life’s Hurts

Level 4
This training will equip each student with practical tips, tools, and techniques to provide care and support to first responders! You can register for this course even if you have not completed the Level 1, 2 or 3 trainings. These courses offer different content that don’t necessarily build on each other. The main topics you will learn are:
• Cumulative Stress Disorder Treatment
• Practical Crisis Emotional Support
• Conflict Resolution
• Listening Judo
• How to Handle Criticism
• Promoting Healthy Relationships
• Introduction to Anger Management
• Peer Support/Chaplain Manual Development
• Beating Burnout

Level 5
This training provides more beneficial tools and techniques to those who wish to provide care and compassion to our first responders. You can register for this course even if you have not completed the Level 1, 2, 3 or 4 trainings. These courses offer different content that don’t necessarily build on each other. The main topics for this course are:

• Results-Based Coaching Techniques
• Verbal De-Escalation
• Listening to Emotions
• Core Message Communication
• The Art of Calming the Excited, Hurt or Drained
• Empathetic Listening
• Validating the Invalidated
• Bringing Peace to Psychological Storms
• Using Words as Emotional-Defense Tools
• Going from Victim to Victor

***Group Tickets: In order to receive the group ticket price, you must register the entire group with one payment. We are not able to have each person in the group pay separately.
